New Salesforce Connector Overview

Last Updated: Jul 25, 2016 | Print this Article

We've released a new Salesforce connector. It uses the OAuth protocol and changes how API calls work with Pardot. Once you've updated your Salesforce connector to the most recent version, most of your Pardot API calls (like syncing records back and forth) won't count against your limit in Salesforce. A very small number of API calls will still count for things like viewing a lead or contact with a Pardot Activities section without being logged into Pardot (since we'll have to confirm your CRM username to display the activities), but most calls from Pardot will now be whitelisted. Note on Reporting: The API Calls Made Within Last 7 Days report in Salesforce will still show API calls made by the connector. However, these API calls will not be included in the API Usage box of your System Overview in Salesforce  — this shows API calls that count toward your Salesforce API limit.

Updating Your Existing Salesforce Connector

  1. In Pardot, navigate to Admin > Connectors.
  2. Click either the Update now to improve your experience link in the banner, or click the gear icon next to your Salesforce connector and then select Update Connector.
  3. Click the blue Update Connector button.
  4. In the pop-up box, enter the connector user's Salesforce credentials and click Log in to Salesforce. Note that the connector users's credentials may be different than your personal Salesforce login.
  5. Once you've logged in, click Allow to give the connector permission to access your account.
  6. Your connector will update.
Notes:
  • You will need to update to this new version before you can change any settings on your existing Salesforce connector.
  • If you update your connector and log in with a different Salesforce user than the existing connector, the existing connector will be archived in the Recycle Bin and a new connector will be created with the same settings.
  • If you change the connector user after you've updated to the new connector, the existing connector will be archived in the Recycle Bin and a new connector will be created with the same settings.
  • If the connector user for the new Salesforce connector matches the connector user on a connector in the Recycle Bin, that connector will be unarchived and updated to have the same settings as the existing connector.
