Blocks and Personalizations

NOTE: This feature is only available in older accounts. Newer accounts use Advanced Dynamic Content. If you are using Blocks and Personalizations, we recommend that you switch to Advanced Dynamic Content -- it's easier to use and offers more features.

Blocks and Personalizations let you fine-tune what prospects see based on their profile. You can place blocks on your website or Pardot forms, landing pageslayout templates, and emails. If you'd like to display different Blocks based on a prospect's profile, you'll need to create and place a Personalization. You'll need to create your Blocks before you set up your Personalizations.

Creating and Placing Blocks

To create a Block

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Content > Blocks.
  2. Click + Add Block.
  3. Enter a Name.
  4. Optional: add Tags.
  5. Enter Content.
  6. When finished, click Create block.

To place a Block

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Content > Blocks.
  2. Click on the Block you want to place.
  3. Click View HTML code.
  4. Copy the code from one of the two boxes. If you want the Block to use your page's existing styling, copy the code in the top box. If you do not want your Block to use styling, copy from the second box.
  5. Place the code on your on your website, form, landing page, layout template, or email.

Creating and Placing Personalizations

To create a Personalization

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Content > Personalizations.
  2. Click + Add Personalization.
  3. Enter a Name.
  4. Optional: add Tags.
  5. Choose a Campaign.
  6. Select a Base Block from the dropdown. This is what the prospect will see if they don't match any profiles.
  7. In Profiles, select a profile and the block you'd like to display if the prospect matches.
  8. When finished, click Create personalization.

To place a Personalization

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Content > Personalization.
  2. Click on the Personalization you want to place.
  3. Click View HTML code.
  4. Copy the code from one of the two boxes. If you want the Personalization to use your page's existing styling, copy the code in the top box. If you do not want your Personalization to use styling, copy from the second box.
  5. Place the code on your on your website, form, landing page, layout template, or email.
