Prepending Microsoft Dynamics CRM Custom Fields with "Pi"

Instructions for MSCRM 2011

Currently, your default prefix in Microsoft Dynamics for custom fields might be something like “new.” In order for Pardot proprietary fields (score, grade, Pardot campaign, etc) to sync correctly, Microsoft Dynamics fields need to start with “pi.”  You can do this using the following instructions:
  1. Navigate to Settings > Customizations > Publishers.
  2. Select the default publisher from the list.
  3. Modify the prefix, changing it from "new" to "pi" (without the quotes), and click Save and Close.
  4. Publish customizations by going to Settings > Solutions, and clicking Publish All Customizations.
  5. Now you are able to create the custom fields located in article Syncing Custom Fields with MSCRM located in this series.
  6. Once you complete these custom fields, revert the prefix to your original prefix.

Instructions for earlier versions of MSCRM

Please note: Microsoft Dynamics version 4.0 or higher is required to use the connector in Pardot. Currently, your default prefix in Microsoft Dynamics for custom fields might be something like “new.” In order for Pardot fields sync correctly, Microsoft Dynamics fields need to start with “pi.”  You can do this using the following instructions:
  1. Click Settings on the bottom left.
  2. Click Administration in the left navigation.
  3. Click System Settings.
  4. Click on the fifth tab, Customization.
  5. Change the prefix to "pi" (without the quotes). You do not need to add the underscore, it will be added automatically.
  6. Now you are able to create the custom fields located in article Syncing Custom Fields with MSCRM located in this series.
  7. Once you complete these custom fields, revert the prefix to your original prefix.
