Creating, Editing, and Deleting Scoring Categories

Scoring Categories allow you to score prospects on more than one product or business unit. This article covers how to create, edit, and delete Scoring Categories. For a complete overview and usage notes, see Scoring Category Overview.

Before you begin creating Scoring Categories, you need to make sure your assets are arranged in Folders based on how you want to score your products. See Scoring Category Overview: Before You Begin for guidance.

Creating Scoring Categories

To create a new Scoring Category, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Automation Settings > Scoring.
  2. Click + Add Scoring Category
  3. Enter a Name.
  4. Choose a Start Date or mark Include all historical activity. Choosing a start date attributes activity on assets in the selected folders to the Scoring Category from the chosen date onward. Marking Include all historical activity attributes all past activity on assets in the selected folders to the Scoring Category.
  5. Choose Folders to assign the Scoring Category to.
  6. Click Create Scoring Category.

Your new Scoring Category will be created. If you assigned the Scoring Category to a folder with assets that prospects have already interacted with, the score for that category will be calculated and displayed.

Editing and Deleting Scoring Categories

You can delete or edit Scoring Categories as needed. However, you'll need to keep the following in mind:

  • You cannot delete a Scoring Category that is assigned to a folder. You'll need to edit and remove the folder assignment before you can delete the Scoring Category.
  • Deleted Scoring Categories are sent to the Recycle Bin. You won't be able to create a new Scoring Category with the same name as one in the Recycle Bin. You can undelete the Scoring Category instead.

To edit a Scoring Category, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Automation Settings > Scoring.
  2. Click the name of the Scoring Category you want to change, then click Edit.
  3. Make your changes.
  4. Choose Folders to assign the Scoring Category to.
  5. Click Save Scoring Category.

To delete a Scoring Category, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Automation Settings > Scoring.
  2. Click the name of the Scoring Category you want to change, then click Delete.
