How do Pardot default fields map to Salesforce fields?

The following field mappings for individual records (prospects and leads/contacts) and accounts are set up automatically when you verify your Salesforce connector. By default, Salesforce will be the master for all of these fields except for the proprietary Pardot fields (score, grade, Pardot campaign, etc.), referrer fields, and Google Analytics fields created when you install the AppExchange package.

At this time, we only sync with lead/contact, account, and opportunity fields (see more about opportunity field mapping here). However, you can choose to make Pardot the master for most other fields and change most of the default mappings if you'd like (exclusions are indicated below). 1Pardot's proprietary fields (Pardot Campaign, Score, Grade, Notes, Comments, Last Activity, etc.) and the referrer fields map to Salesforce fields that are read-only; thus, they are non-custom fields that are considered the master over Salesforce fields by default and cannot be remapped to sync with other fields in Salesforce.

Note: Due to search changes made by Google, you may not get values for Pardot First Referrer Query. You can read more about how those changes affect Pardot here and here.

2If Address One and Address Two are mapped to the default field (Street for Leads, Mailing Street for Contacts) and either of them is set to override the CRM in Pardot, then both will override the CRM and the Pardot values will be pushed to Salesforce (we'll combine them with a space between the two values). If the CRM is the master (the default behavior), we pull Street/MailingStreet into Address One and blank out Address Two.

3To show the Pardot Hard Bounced field on leads and contacts, you must do the following:

  1. Assign the Pardot Connector User permission set to your connector user. See Applying Permissions Sets and Object Permissions in Salesforce for help.
  2. Edit your lead and contact page layouts, and drag the field onto the layout. For more help, see Getting Custom Fields to Appear in Salesforce.

4The Google Analytics fields are included in the AppExchange install package, but will only display on prospects if the Google Analytics Connector is verified in Pardot.

5 With default mapping, the Company field in Pardot will be synced with either the lead Company field or contact Account field (dependent upon which object type is syncing with your prospect). However, if this field is remapped, only values from the newly mapped Salesforce field will sync. If a contact is associated with an account, the Company field will be read-only in Pardot.

6Pardot Conversion fields are not connected to actual Pardot fields, rather, their values are pulled directly from the related data in Pardot. These fields can therefore not be remapped.

7To use this feature, you must first enable Bounce Management in Salesforce. See Salesforce's Bounce Management documentation for help. These fields cannot be added to page layouts, but are available in Salesforce reports. These fields will not have values until there has been a bounce.

† These fields are hidden until there is a hard bounce. Even if the Do Not Email and Opted Out fields are cleared, the bounce history will be retained on the prospect record and the Pardot Hard Bounced, Email Bounced Reason and Email Bounced Date fields will not be cleared. If the hard bounce was the result of an incorrectly entered email address, changing it to a valid email address will clear the Pardot Hard Bounced field.

‡ The Google Analytics Connector fields map to Salesforce fields that are read-only; thus, they are non-custom fields that are considered the master over Salesforce fields by default and cannot be remapped to sync with other fields in Salesforce.

* If your account does not allow multiple prospects with the same email address, the Email field cannot be edited or remapped.

** The Assigned User and Recent Interaction fields cannot be edited to make Pardot the master or remapped to another field in Salesforce. The Prospect Opted Out field can be remapped to another field, but the sync behavior cannot be changed.

Note: If a field in Salesforce is a dropdown, the mapping field in Pardot must also be a drop down that matches identically (they are case sensitive) in order to sync with these fields.
